After a disappointing 2 weeks the 2nds travelled the distance to the pleasant setting of Emberton CC to face Wellingborough OG's 3rds
After losing the toss Willoughby were asked to bat and after 2 early wickets found themselves at 33 for 2 after only 7 overs. The pair of Michael Deery (41) and Ambrose Deery (66) put on a partnership of 49 for the 3rd wicket before Michael Deery departed for 41 bowled by A Ganatra close to the drinks interval. After the wicket of Badj Rahmam (4) another handy partnership of 61 by Ambrose Deery and Dave Alcock (51*) took the team to 165 for 5 after 33 overs. Ambrose Deery out for 66 with some fine stroke play. Another handy partnership followed between James Andrews (8) and Dave Alcock to end the innings at 215 for 6 after 40 overs. Charlie Bridgeford the pick of the bowlers with 2-22.
The interval came and went and the defence commenced with Rees Moor (1-25) and Sean Thornton (0-23) opening the attack, the fielding display much better than recent weeks. Stuart Jeffery (12) and Ashish Gantara (41) frustrated in a solid counterattack into the 60's until the bowling change of Fergus Deery (5-11) and Ryan Lines (3-18) got the important breakthrough. Rees Moor with a stunning catch to dismiss Gantara. The inexperienced middle and tail of Wellingborough showed as the swing and flight was too much. Wellingborough slumping to 80 all out. Rees Moor again unfortunate to only pick up a single wicket.
