The 2nds entered the cup competition with home advantage but with the 1sts also having the advantage they had the privilege of occupying The Green. With that in mind, after a long and convoluted search we ended up in the surroundings of Guilsborough. To add insult to injury Ruston cried off off and never had the decency to turn up at The Green.
Bugbrooke were very weak this afternoon and after no coin toss and a shake of the hand we were fielding. Things went excellent, they were 31 for six with Fergus Deery tucking into the top order with 5 for 16, Ryan Lines 1 for 12. Matthewman (31) and Patel (16*) put on a partnership with Bugbrooke eventually 71 all out. Sutton 0 for 2.
After the break we realised how difficult the wicket was to bat on, the skipper Culverhouse claiming 5 for 9 with the team at 30 for 6 things looked a little bleak. So bleak that Steve Porter packed up his recliner, factor 50 and stormed off leaving Aiden behind. There were no other issues as James Andrews (25*) and Ryan Perry negotiated Culverhouse's remaining overs and accumulated runs with relative ease to secure a victory.
The 2nds head onto the Semi Final with probably 3 tough teams also in the draw.
