Willoughby 2nd XI were playing their third home game on the trot, unfortunately the team Willoughby were supposed to have played pulled out but some great work by Karl Quinney found us another fixture against Kenilworth. Willoughby lost the toss and were asked to bat, Willoughby got off to a flying start with a quick 18 in the first three overs for from Zach Droy, but unfortunately him and Noah Kemp fell inside the first three overs, which left Marcus Bald and Dave Alcock to steady the ship. Willoughby continued to score rapidly until Dave fell for a well-made 30 leaving Willoughby 90 for 3 off 15 overs. Marcus continued to score quickly, which lead to him earning his first senior fifty and he finished 66 not out, along with Ryan Perry on 22 not out. Willoughby set Kenilworth 199 to win. Kenilworth got off to a great start by being 51 for 0 off 11 overs until some excellent bowling by Rufus Droy in his first senior game, which saw him dismiss both openers in the one over, then he took a further wicket in his next over. Then the spin twins off Chaitanya and James came on and bowled a combined 16 over spell of 5 for 58, which built pressure on the batsman, which led to wickets tumbling. Kenilworth required 62 off the last 8 overs but fell 43 runs short with the best figures going to Rufus Droy with 4 for 19 off 6.1 overs with 1 maiden. The overall performance and team work was excellent from everyone, especially from the youngsters who all played well.
