Willoughby 2nd XI were playing at the Green for their match with Hockley Heath CC on a damp Sunday afternoon, after losing the toss Captain James Andrews led the team out to field. The opening bowlers of Matt Cartridge and Marcus Bald made quick progress with Matt removing the opening batsman. Then the next bowlers of Katie Andrews and Noah Eyles made further inroads. Both bowlers took a break and were replaced by the experience of John Gregson and Ben Hollis, who took 4 wickets between them. Key figures that stood out were 8 overs 2 for 21 for john Gregson, 3 for 16 of 6.1 overs for Matt Cartridge and 2 for 27 off 6 overs for Katie Andrews. Hockley Heath Posted 130 to win, unfortunately the innings didn’t get off to the best start with Willoughby reduced to 15 for 3 off 3.4 overs, but then Ash Rayner and captain James Andrews stabilized the innings with 41 run Partnership with Ash retiring for 30, then there was some small little partnerships throughout the rest of the innings, that guided Willoughby to victory. I think it was a great performance from the whole team especially from the three youngsters Marcus, Noah, Noah Kemp.
