Willoughby’s Sunday 2nd XI made a return to action for the first time in nearly 30 year with the first game back against Warwick. Unfortunately the Willoughby side only had 10 players and after losing the toss they were asked to field in the heat.

Today was the day for short sharp spells for all the bowler, as they all toiled hard especially the younger bowlers who were facing some really good batsman, as the Warwick side was filled with 8 adults, with 7 batting before one junior came in.

A couple of special mentions to Katie Andrews who bowled excellently all day and was unlucky to not get a wicket with a few drops off her bowling the same goes for Noah Eyles. Warwick posted 267 to win.

The aim for the Willoughby batters was to go out there and enjoy the time out there and to gain batting practice. But the highlight of the innings was Ambrose Deery’s and Noah Eyles partnership which showed what Sundays were all about,

But there was another highlight which was Ambrose’s first senior fifty, where he smashed all the bowlers around the field. Willoughby finished 152 for 6 off 40 overs, which was a valiant effort from everyone.
