A very enjoyable afternoon started with Willoughby batting. Skipper Ash Rayner then scored a quick 48 not out, twice hitting the ball onto an adjacent house roof in sucessive balls to shouts of 'Mind the windows Tino' from the boundary. Willoughby finished on 235 off their 40 overs.
Groundman Fergus Deery and youngster Nirmay Patel, kept the opening Southam batsman pinned down with tight bowling resulting in two wickets for Young Nirmay in his opening overs and Fergus picking up one. The return to bowling of Sean Thornton was very pleasing and also a mixure of bowling styles from youngster Ambrose Deery saw two more wickets fall. A solid 49 (retired not out) from Barry admore increased the middle order chasing of Willoughby's total. A run out ensued followed by quick wickets , one a piece for Mark Fell, another for both Ambrose and Nirmay. Southam ended on a respectable 155.
A great development for both teams of young players meant cricket was very much the winner on the day
