Mark Fell and Ashley Rayner came to Willoughby’s aid with the bat at the Sheaf and Sickle on Sunday as the visitors eventually edged a closely-fought friendly against hosts Oakfield & Rowland Utd.

Fell made 46 and Rayner a top score of 70 were the only double figure contributions of note with the bat for Willoughby as they set O & R a decent total of 183 for 7 to pursue; 40 runs of which came via extras. Chris Smith and Luke Fernando taking 2 for 10 and 2 for 30 respectively for the hosts.

Their reply was led by opener Chris Goodwin who made 68, and whilst Liam Denipitiya added 30 and Steve Hillyard contributed 31, the hosts ultimately fell short by 9 runs, making 174 for 9 off their allotted overs. Fell contributed with the ball with 2 for 41 whilst Aiden Porter claimed 2 for 24.
