1 apiece after Exiles batting collapse

Willoughby once again welcomed the Exiles to the green for their 2nd fixture captained by Mark Perry. On a dull day the weather had been precarious through the week but the game went ahead with the Exiles put into bat.

The familiar face of Robin Corrigan and Matt Cumiksy opened up proceedings and after a good spell of bowling pegged back the Exiles to 25 for 1 off 10 overs, Corrigan nicking off to Callum Hanks for 6. Matt Cumisky followed for a good 16 after the centurion from the prior game James Rowland entered the crease and was looking a little rusty when he played on for 3. Nikesh Mistry accounting for both scalps. At 37 for 3 off 17 overs Karl Harland and Tom Neville repaired the innings and started to build momentum, Neville the aggressor and falling for 31 off just 19 deliveries in a flamboyant display. Harland kept the innings together picking off the poor deliveries but at the other end wickets were falling at an alarming rate, Justin Hanks (5/26) accounting for the aforementioned Neville as well as Liam Walecezk for 0, Duncan Yeadon for 2, Gurj Rupal for 2 and the prize wicket of Harland for a deserved 46. Captain Perry briefly displayed his effective ‘top edge for 6’ and after a expansive drive, missed the ball bowled by Mark Fell. Mark Mclellan dusted off the cobwebs but succumbed to the loopy spin of James Andrews. Dom Whitfield at the tail of the innings with a cameo of 16 not out to take the Exiles to a below par 138.

In response the reply coughed and spluttered aided by the controlled bowling of Duncan Yeadon (2/21), he accounted for Stuart Hall for 16 and Ceri Roberts for an entertaining 25. Rupal as the 1st change to Whitfield disposed of Matt Cartridge for 4 and James Andrews for 0, Corrigan took care of Ryan Perry and Mark Fell which left the response in need of a rebuild at 66 for 6. Nikesh Mistry and Stuart Bonthuys batted sensibly over the next 12 overs producing what would be the match winning partnership of 65, a bowling change to Mclellan brought Mistry’s innings to a close for 29, Justin Hanks finishing off proceedings with 8 not out, Bonthuys finishing undefeated for 38.
