A bright start to Saturday saw the visit of bottom of the table Bugbrooke 3rds to The Green. Skipper Ryan Perry won the toss for the first time of the season decided today was a good day to bat. The Bugrooke skipper explaining the he hadn't won a toss in 2 years, but he was happy to bowl first.
Matt Cartridge and Ian Andrews negotiated the very tidy opening salvo from Bugbrooke and struggled to find the gaps in the field. The first wicket of Cartridge as he departed in the 14th over with only 21 on the board. A similar pattern emerged as Martin Nichols and Andrews played steadily whilst Bugbrooke offered nothing in the way of runs. The pair batted until the 31st over trying to up the run rate at 83, Andrews departing for 47. A run out to in form Mike Deery for 1 and Willougbhy were perhaps looking at an under par score. Nichols eventually was caught for a steady 32. An aggressive last 4 overs from Dave Alcock (10*) and Matt Goss (21*) saw the team reach an under par 139 for 4 off 40 overs but defendable.
After a tea with the sun in full force Fergus Deery and Rees Moor tore through the Bugbrooke top and Middle order in 15 overs, Deery with an impressive 4 for 10 off 10 overs, 8 maidens. Moor 3 for 8 off 7 overs, 3 maidens. At one point Bugbrooke were reeling at 9 for 8. The innings finished as Ambrose Deery taking 3 for 8. Malone the only resistance at 9 finishing 20 not out with the score 34 all out.
