At the beautiful surroundings of Earls Barton CC, Willoughby captain Ben Hollis continued his now 10 and 0 streak of losing the toss and was put into bat, a decision the home team may have regretted! Things started well until Chait Kurusala missed one and was bowled on 9. This brought Ash 'the Lord' Rayner to the crease and soon the runs were flowing. Scott Cluley passed his 50 with some beautiful drives and Ash soon joined him. The two carried on hitting the boundaries, running a number of threes and surely a century was on the cards for one, if not both of them. Scott got into the 90s and just couldn't find the big hit he needed, so was going up in singles. Having reach 98, and with all his teammates ready to cheer him to his first century for the club, he was bowled, ending a fabulous partnership of 167 with Ash. Not long after Ash was then caught behind after making an elegant 86. A few quick late runs meant that Willoughby had reached 252 - 5.

In reply the potent Willoughby youngsters opening pairing of Dan 'the Willoughby Express' Farrow and Callum 'birthday boy' Hanks were proving to be a handful yet again, consistently beating the bat and picking up wickets, Callum with 2 wickets for 33 runs and Dan with 1 wicket for 11 runs in their 10 over spells. The first change experienced pairing of Mark Fell and Nikesh 'lightbulb' Mistry then came into the attack. Soon more wickets were falling, apart from the one over from Nik where he was hit for 3 maximums by the home teams number 7 batsman. Mark claimed 5 wickets for 9 runs in a beautiful spell of swing bowling, and Nik taking 2 wickets for 25 runs with some, at times, lovely F&G.

Willoughby continue their climb up the league and now sit in 5th place, just 22 points behind 3rd place.
