1sts bounce back to comfortable win

Willoughby captain Ben Hollis lost the toss, like he has for every game this season, and was put into bat. Opening pair of Chait Kurusala and Scott Cluley got off to a great start, with boundaries flowing before Scott was caught out on 27. Chait carried on the momentum and was soon passed his 50. After some more exceptional straight drives and Just when it was looking like he would get to his first century, he missed a straight one and was bowled for 76. At this stage Willoughby were 136-3 with plenty of overs still to go. It was then the turn of Ben Hollis and James Barnwell to steady the ship before Ben was out for a well made 22. James carried on the scoring with some lovely straight drives, including a great 6 into the gardens behind the bowler, before being caught out just after reaching his half century on 52. A few late quick runs resulted in Willoughby making an impressive 242-8.

In reply the home team got off to a good start, getting full value for just beating the in-field. The young opening bowling partnership of Dan Farrow and Callum Hanks were unlucky after beating the bat in every over. A change in bowling brought the change in luck that Willoughby needed. After reaching 93-0 the excellent bowling team of Ben Hollis and Mark Fell soon brought the game firmly back into Willoughby's favour. Both Ben and Mark taking 3 wickets each in a 20 over spell. Then it was the turn of Nik 'Gilo' Mistry to shine. Nik used all of his experience to bamboozle the lower order with his flight and guile, just missing out on a hattrick, taking the last 4 wickets. Willoughby finished the home team off, bowling them out for 165 to record a comfortable 77 run victory. Nik finished with figures of 4-18, Ben 3-22 and Mark 3-41.

A special shout out has to be for Scott 'safe hands' Cluley for taking an incredible 5 catches at mid and long off. A great all round team performance from the Willoughby 1sts.
