" He plays for our team " cheers keeper

Skipper Ben Hollis wins the toss and choices to bowl first. Young Archie Mcmillan was given the new ball and what a first over it was. Thornborough's batsmen starting the game like a 20 over game swinging the bat at every ball and scoring two boundaries and getting 11 runs off 5 balls, Archie then has the perfect response and then clean bowls Davis middle stump. Archie finishing on 1-49. Another Under 15 Dan Farrow also opened but struggled with his run up with figures of 0-17. Richard Foxon replaced Dan bowling perfect away swing causing the batsmen all sorts of problems. Ash Rayner replaced Archie at the other end and was also hooping the ball massively, and it was with those two that wickets began to fall in quick succession one by one with Hollis taking two fine catches. Foxon with the most reward finishing 5-52 off 11 and Rayner finishing on 4-31 off 7. Thornborough started well, but soon all made mistakes being bowled out in 26 overs for 152.

In reply Martin Nicholls and Hassan Nawaz opened the batting. Nicolls doing what he does best and soaking up balls and keeping his wicket. Nawaz was finding it difficult reading the balls and popped one straight up and was caught for 4. Alex Proundman looked strong and was picking the gaps for good singles, but he was finished off by a slower delivery to leave the hosts at 23 for 2 at tea.

Rayner as always steadies the ship and scoring off the bad balls, and especially Nichols finally perished edging behind. Foxon and Rayner was scoring nicely and keeping the score board ticking, until the latter was caught by a fielder who has probably never caught a cricket ball in his life finishing on (36).

Andrews came and went scoring 3. Stuart Hall with a massively important 16. Willoughby needed 24 off 7 overs with 3 wickets. Captain Hollis gets his first duck of the season which couldn't of come at a worse time. Farrow was unlucky and was bowled by a low bounce which meant it all rested on Dave Alcock and McMillan as the last two batsmen. Alcock commanded the strike to score a couple of boundaries and coupled with some great running between the wickets the pair brought the scores level. McMillan then hit the winning runs over cover for a quick single to win the game.

Admittedly it wasn't our best performance , but we stuck at it got the job done and got the win.

Well done lads, six games to play, onto the next one !
