The new season got off to the perfect start as Willoughby celebrated in style—securing a well-earned victory and marking Stuart Bonthuys’ birthday with a BBQ and cake to top off a fantastic day at the club.

After a solid effort in the field, Willoughby restricted Wellingborough Town to 204/9. A disciplined bowling performance, backed by sharp fielding, ensured the visitors never truly broke away.

In reply, Willoughby chased the target down comfortably with five overs to spare. Dave Alcock led from the front with a composed 50 before departing, while Ceri Roberts anchored the innings superbly with a well-crafted unbeaten 92*, guiding the team home in confident fashion.

It was a real team performance, with contributions across both bat and ball an hugely positive way to kick off the season.
