Also on Saturday, a club Saturday XI visited the historic surrounds of Stoneleigh Abbey and came away with a low-scoring victory over long standing friends Stoneleigh CC.

Batting first, the hosts were bowled out for just short of three figures, making 90 with Paul Lazenby’s 16 the top score with the bat to go along with 23 extras. Willoughby’s wickets saw Mark Fell and Ambrose Deery take three apiece.

In reply, the visitors saw Hassan Nawaz open with 18 before Chaitanya Kurusala top scored with 28 and Ben Hollis’s 26 not out guided them to the total with plenty of overs in hand.
