Awards Night to celebrate achievements and recognise the Borough's dedicated and talented sportspeople

Well done to our Under 15s of 2018 who were runners-up in Rugby Borough Council Sports & Recreation's Sports Awards' Young Team of the Year category last night (Thursday).

Held at the Benn Hall in Rugby, the annual Sports Awards are hosted by Rugby Borough Council, the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby FM to recognise and reward the borough’s most dedicated and talented sports people and to celebrate the achievements people have made in the past year.

Our Under 15s team from 2018 were one of three teams shortlisted in the Simon Warwood Young Team of the Year category - the others being winners Rugby and East Warwickshire Hockey Under 12s and Rugby Town Under 9s.

The team and club will receive a runners-up plaque for what is a fine achievement just to make the final three nominees, this on the back of the success of an unbeaten season and league and cup 'double' last year, and success both on and off-the-field over last seven years together as a team and group; the seeds of which all started off at Kwik Cricket before progressing through the Under 11s and Under 13s, to now move into senior cricket.

Congratulations to all the award winners at last night's Awards Night, and thanks to the team - notably Tom K and Tom A - for the kind invite and hospitality for the evening.
