Willoughby 2nd XI vs Wardington 1st XI
By Ryan Perry
Manny 'Superman' Sidhu
With the heavy rain and horrible weather around there was no doubt that the toss of the coin was crucial and it was another loss for the skipper Rahman.
Set into bat James Goodwin and Manny Sidhu set about building an innings in tough conditions. Goodwin the first to perish on 14 with the score on 33. Kamesh Ganti (1) and Matthew Smart (0) still a little rusty with the bat fell quickly and at 40 for 3 Stuart Hall (42) and Sidhu put on a outstanding partnership of 84, Hall eventually bowled with the score on 124. Sidhu passed 50 and reached 64 before eventually being caught in the deep. Callum Hanks (0) was unfortunate to be run out without facing a ball and Badj Rahman and Fergus Deery kept the score ticking for the 2nds to reach 152 for 7 off 40 overs.
After tea the opening duo of Archie McMillan and Dan Farrow bowled an opening spell of 6 overs each, McMillan picking up 2 early wickets. Kamesh Ganti and Callum Hanks followed up and with some very unorthodox batting Wardington reached 62 for 2 off 20 overs, things were looking a little ragged and a Hanks eventually bowled the dangerman Adams for 22. One too many swipes at the ball. Ganti followed up and changed the game in 2 balls when Sidhu took the catch of the season as Lines dispatched the ball towards long on, Sidhu sprinted from long off and with his go-go gadget arms gobbled up the ball. The next delivery the opener was bowled by a booming in-swinger to return the game into our favour. Wardington never recovered as Hanks took 4-25 in his spell, Ganti 2-30. McMillan returned and from the pavilion end cleaned up the tail finishing with figures of 4-19. Wardington slumping to 89 all out.
