Easy victory in the sunshine

On a fantastic Saturday the 2nd team welcomed local rivals Dunchurch and Bilton 'A' to the green.

Skipper Baj Rahman called heads correctly and set about organising the batting order. James Goodwin (9) and Alex Proudman (29) negotiated the early exchanges well before Goodwin was bowled by one that jagged back in. Pistol Pete Reynolds came on 1 st change and instantly was rewarded by stumping Kamesh Ganti for 14, trapped Fergus Deery for 2 and Baj 15. Alex was cleaned up by Palmer and after 20 overs the game was on edge at 90 for 5. Ryan Perry (19) and Jake Quinney (52*) batted for next 11 overs only for Perry to be Revolver Reynolds last wicket and took 4 for 30 off his 10 overs. On 133 for 6 Dan Farrow (22*) and Quinney J timed the innings to perfection with an unbeaten partnership of 66 to take the innings to 199 for 6. Quinney J with his senior maiden 50.

After Tea Troy Reeves (0-12) and Archie McMillion (2-5) opened up, Troy struggling with rhythm was reprimanded by the umpire and after 3 soft beamers was taken out of the attack. Not to worry as McMillan and Dan Farrow (3-13) tore through the middle order. Jake Quinney (0-9) had a spell followed by the senior section of Karl Quinney (1-6) Kamesh Ganti (1-16). The opener Ewer was stubborn and was eventually 'stumped' by Perry. Ewer was still out of his ground after the umpire declared he was watching the other umpire if the ball was a wide. Ewer held is pose and eventually moved his foot onto the crease line. Whilst the umpire walked to the stumps to erect the bails Perry still pointed out that he was still out of his ground and still called not out. Anyway, Ewer was eventually was caught and after a stubborn last wicket stand James Goodwin (1-6) and Fergus Deery (0-0)!! finished off Dunchurch & Bilton, limping to 82 all out.
