The progress this season of Willoughby Ladies Tip & Run has been a successful one to date with the team remaining unbeaten heading into July.
Having been unable to play the first match of the season due to a waterlogged pitch, the season started in earnest on the 12th May away to Southam. Southam batted first and were all out for 66 runs off 11 overs. which Willoughby went on to chase down with 2 overs to spare.
Seven days later, Willoughbys' first home match was a local encounter against Barby. Barby batted first and were all out for 36 runs after 9 overs. Willoughby reaching their victory target with 11 overs to spare.
After a short weather-enforced break, WCC Ladies then headed away to CEMEX. The hosts batted first and scored 81 runs off 16 overs, but again Willoughby were able to chase down the total for their third win of the season.
Seven days later, Willoughby batted first at home to Wolston where a total of 109 runs proved enough for win number four; Julie Sprayson was the top scorer with 35 runs.
The first round of the cup was played 24 hours later against Barby. Barby batted first and were all out for 60 runs off 13 overs. Louise was the top scorer with 31 runs Not Out as Willoughby progressed at the expesne of their near neighbours from up the hill.
The top two sides meant on 23rd June when WCC travelled to face fellow unbeaten side, Long Buckby. Willoughby batted first and set an eventual winning total of 142 runs. Julie Sprayson was again amongst the runs, ending the top scorer of the night with a tremendous knock of 93 runs.
On finish the opening half of the season, WCC then beat Newbold last Monday (30th June). Having set a target of 100 batting first, WCC then bowled out Newbold for 29!
