Two junior wins in three days

A good week for Willoughby's Junior section as both the Under 13's and Under 15's recorded wins in their RDCL games.

Tuesday night saw the Under 13's beat Hunningham. Akshay Vaghela and Shozab Mohammed both made good knocks of 25 and 26 retired/not out as Willoughby set a target of just under the 100 mark.

In reply, Matt Ainge continued to impress, taking 3 wickets, backed by some sharp fielding including four catches for Vaghela.
Hunningham's innings ended on 55 for 9, earning WCC victory.

Last night, WCC Under 15's were involved in a much closer contest, eventually running out winners by 5 wickets over visitors Stretton-on-Dunsmore.

WCC skipper Chris Watson won the toss, put Stretton into bat and the opening home attack of Mohammed and Ainge kept the visitors pegged back and on the back foot from the outset, Mohammed with a good combination of line and length + then extracting some turn when reverting to spin, Ainge again impressing with excellent line and length, and rewarded with a wicket at the close of his four over spell. Stretton picked up the run rate on the arrival of Luke Tailby who hit a top score of the evening of 41, courtesy of some agressive excellently timed drives. Having been hit for three consecutive fours, Watson returned for the final over to claim two stumpings aided by Daniel Roberts behind the stumps.
Stretton's total of 95 for 4 at the end of their 20 overs was a good target to go at.

In reply, Alex Proudman and Viresh Mistry started off well before Proudman was first to go falling short of the crease trying a quick single. Watson then came to the crease and after a cautious start and seeing Mistry depart, built the foundations of his side's innings, sweeping away any loose balls to make 30 before he was bowled. With the run rate required at 5 per over, Roberts and Rob Mackenzie chipped away towards the total; Mackenzie falling run out, then David Willetts also departing caught and bowled to add to the tension. Four byes brought the scores level before Roberts sealed the win with four balls remaining with a well timed boundary off his legs.

Well done everyone; two deserved wins
