The story on Saturday was no better at The Green as Willoughby A were comfortably beaten by visitors, Preston Capes.
the visitors were sent in to bat and having started cautiously on a damp but spongy wicket, eventually set WCC 201 to chase.
John G bowled well and bowled something like 7 overs for 9 runs at one point before getting hit
entering the latter 10 overs stage.

Sean Thornton took 3 wickets, but got smacked for 34 off 4 in the process, with Si Nicholls and Chris Halcrow also picking up a wicket apiece.

Their batting was quite strong with a 14yo Northants County player opening + 1st teamer and solid late hitters.

Our batting. Isbar listened to a few words of wisdom and batted well and sensibly. good job he did as not many others did with 5 ducks in total
Si Nicholls also opened = duck
Pete reynolds = duck
Ben Hollis stuck around for a bit for 11
Sean Thornton and Chris Halcrow tying with 3 runs apiece (to much of their own hilarity)
Cameron Sutton and John G out for ducks but to good balls from Capes' young county spinner.

Having travelled down from Leicestershire to act as the 11th man (but arriving in the 38th over), Stephen Reynolds came in at 11 and along with skipper for the day (Press Bloke), they saw out 5 overs: the latter finishing on 7no to take the As into 3 figures.

WCC A all out for 102, and a good 99 runs short.

Embarrassingly that there was only 6 home players left at the end to 'welcome' the victors off the field.

Special mention for 'The General', who although was only supposed to field for an hour, fielded all the way through the Preston innings - otherwise it would have been another 250+ on the board (he also took 2 good catches) .
