'A's early order batting woes key to Gawcott defeat (12th June)

Division 3

Gawcott & Hillesden (109 for 3 – 20 pts) beat Willoughby ‘A’ (108 all out – 4 pts) by 7 wickets

Gawcott & Hillesden: Nick Stanger 53, Arron Critchley 18, Colin Piggott 13

Willoughby ‘A’: Karl Harland 28, Martin Nichols 22 Alan Rumbelow 23 N.O. Nick Stanger 3-23, Ashley Griffiths 3-29

There was similar pain for Willoughby A as a similar iffy batting showing also went some way to their defeat at Gawcott & Hillesden.

The visitors batted first and in the same manner to the 1st XI saw the top order batsmen removed inside the opening overs as Willoughby were 10 for 3 and then 14 for 4. Karl Harland recovered matters slightly making 28, Martin Nichols made 22, with Alan Rumbelow finishing on 23 not out as Willoughby just crept into three figures, making 108 all out.

In reply, G & H found the going easy in comparison; Nick Stanger backing up his 3 for 23 by making 53 as the home side secured victory by 7 wickets.
