Willoughby v Oakfield

Willoughby 237 for 8
Oakfield 166 for 7

Willoughby won by 71 runs

A comfortable close to the season for Willoughby at The Green as they enjoyed success in the penultimate game of the campaign over Oakfield.

The hosts batted first, and set a useful target, making 237 for 8 with contributions coming from all of the top six batsmen. Kash Choudry led the way with 46, with support from Pete Sarson and Tom Green (both making 39), skipper Stuart Hall (36), Karl Harland (26) and Martin Nichols (23). Renshaw returned figures of 2 for 28 for the visitors.

In reply, Oakfield were on the back foot from the outset with Karl Quinney (1 for 16) and Simon Nicholls applying the brakes to the visitor's run chase. However opener Adam Stradling and Lewis Hetherington built a steady partnership although without threatening an attempt to chase down the total, surviving a number of dropped catches and half chances as they did. Hetherington made 40, Stradling 53 before both fell to the bowling of Nichols (3 for 16). After a competent spell bowling, an impressive direct hit run out from youngster Ben Hollis accounted for another wicket, before a combination of Sarson (2 for 8) and the other Nicholls snaffled two catches for wickets in the final over.
