Morale booster at Maids Moreton (18.7.09)

South Northants Cricket League

Division 4

Maids Moreton v Willoughby A

Willoughby ‘A’ (179 for 3 – 20 pts) beat Maids Moreton (178 for 7 – 6 pts) by 7 wickets

Willoughby ‘A’: Nikesh Mistry 81 N.O. Matt Goss 46

Maids Moreton: Paul Stairs 114, Tom Frogley 31, Alan Rumbelow 4-24

A similar comfortable win for promotion-chasing Willoughby A as they made up for the previous week's slip-up by accounting for bottom markers Maids Moreton.

The hosts batted first and set a target of 178 for 7, largely dominated by Paul Stairs who hit 114 of them taking advantage of his home ground's short boundaries. Alan Rumbelow was finally rewarded for another useful bowling spell, returning figures of 4 for 24.

In reply, Willoughby were equally as adept in finding the boundary rope as Nikesh Mistry and Matt Goss put on 128 for the opening wicket. Goss departed four short of a half-century but Mistry ended 81 not out as the visitors cruised to victory by 7 wickets, a good morale booster ahead of this weekend's top of the table clash with Marston St Lawrence at The Green
