Willoughby v Woodford Halse

Woodford Halse (142 for 9 – 20 pts) beat Willoughby (141 all out – 6 pts) by 1 wicket

Woodford Halse: .

Willoughby: Bhavik Solanki 48, Trevor Goodwin 30, Brad Ward 3-7

Another close ending for Willoughby, but this time they were the ones to taste defeat as visitors Woodford gained a narrow one-wicket victory at The Green.

After some significant morning rain, both sides can perhaps count themselves fortunate to have any play, but play they did and batting first Willoughby were bowled out for 141. Bhavik Solanki top scoring with 48 whilst Trevor Goodwin made 30; Brad Ward taking 3 for 7 for Woodford.

In reply, Chris Prophet (Jnr) made 48, and Richard Stevens 26 as Woodford crept towards the target figure. Kevin Aris eventually got them there, closing on 19 not out with the home side agonisingly in Australia-esque fashion needing one more wicket to take the spoils. The seemingly evergreen figure of John Gregson took 4 for 28 to aid their ultimately unsuccessful plight.
