Byfield 'A' v Willoughby

Willoughby (204 for 6 – 20 pts) beat Byfield ‘A’ (202 all out – 8 pts) by 2 runs

Willoughby: Robin Corrigan 43, Dave Alcock 39, Simon Blunden 30, Andy Wheeler 3-34

Byfield ‘A’: Nigel Cook 43, Jason Andrews 35, James Doran 31, Pete Reynolds 3-41, Lee Johnson 3-46

A nail-biter at the fine surrounds of Byfield as Willoughby grabbed a last ditch victory in an enthralling finish.

Having set a decent total of 204 for 6 for the hosts to chase, the pendulum swung backwards and forwards between both sides during the Byfield innings. With the home side grabbing the initiative one minute and Willoughby then capturing wickets to even the balance, the game went to the last wicket standing and a matter of a few runs required.

As it was, a fumbled stumping turn into Willoughby's ultimate benefit as in the same moment the last Byfield batsmen was run out at the wicket keeper's end, earning the visitors the points.
