'A's outsmarted at Marston (27th June)

Marston St Lawrence ‘A’ (159 for 5 – 20 pts) beat Willoughby ‘A’ (157 for 7 – 7 pts) 5 wickets

Marston St Lawrence: Steve Bussy 36, John Gale 34, Tom Brooks 32 N.O. Martin Nichols 2-36

Willoughby ‘A’: Ashley Rayner 82, Martin Nichols 28, Martin Sirot-Smith 3-35, Mike Froom 2-39

In contrast, it is two successive defeats for Willoughby's 'A' side as they went down at the fine surrounds of Marston St Lawrence.

Batting first, the visitors set a modest total of 157 for 7 off their 40 overs; which in hindsight was probably another 20 or 30 runs short.

Ashley Rayner in at number 3 made a fine and typically well-crafted 82, even despite being hampered by a leg injury which required a runner for the last 10 overs. He was supported by Martin Nichols with 28 as the Willoughby innings again progressed in fits and starts.

In reply, the hosts were pegged back in the opening stages by some tight bowling and fielding, but some useful overs for MSL just after the drinks break at halfway saw the game swing in their direction. Steve Bussy with 36 and John Gale with 34 gave them the edge which was completed by Tom Brooks adding an unbeaten 32 as the home side cruised to victory with over two overs to spare; Nichols taking 2 for 36 for the visitors restricted attack
