Willoughby's trip into Buckinghamshire ended with a narrow defeat in fine conditions at Thornborough.

Bowling first Willoughby took wickets on a regular basis, but Stuart Parker stood firm for the hosts, finishing unbeaten on 103 as Thornborough closed on 212 for 7. John Gregson, Ashok Badia. Simon Nicholls and Tom Hill all amongst the wickets.

In reply Bhavik Solanki and Johnny Cumiskey got Willoughby off to a flying start. Solanki fell with the score on 52 for 1, before Cumiskey and Neal Jones then put together a solid partnership. Cumiskey hit a full toss straight to square leg and was caught for 41, before the dubious lbw of Dave Alcock, followed by the quick departures of Graham Hallam and Robin Corrigan dented hopes of reaching the target.

Tailender Badial made it a close finish with a powerful 29 not out, but with the field set out he was run out in the last over, leaving Willoughby all out for 196 and their target just out of reach.
