Harbury v Willoughby

Harbury 211 all out
Willoughby 180 all out

Harbury won by 31 runs

Sunday's friendly at Harbury went the way of the hosts after a Willoughby fell short in their run chase.

Batting first, the hosts looked set for a big total, reaching 144 at the halfway point with Will Russell and Ed Russell contributing half-centuries taking advantage of a quick and very uneven outfield.
However once they departed, the runs dried up particularly in the last 12 overs when James Needham took four wickets. Harbury closed on 211 all out with John Gregson, Karl Quinney, Ryan Perry and skipper Ashley Rayner also in the wickets.

In reply, after an early loss Needham looked set to take control with the bat, but he departed for 32 when set for a decent knock, and left matters with Rayner to push Willoughby steadily to their target. However he fell for a top score of 64 and with it went the likelihood of the away side getting the win. In darkening light, the lower order fell relatively cheaply despite some useful shots from young Josh Slade as the hosts recorded victory by 31 runs.
