Host of former players set to descend back at The Green in June

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the club's Sunday fixtures for 2018 is news regarding one of the much-anticipated games on the Sunday XI calendar this year ~ the return of the WCC Exiles.

Sunday 10th June will see a new fixture take shape even if many of the opposition faces will be very familiar to many of us with the visit of the aptly-named Willoughby Exiles coming to the village.

This new addition to the fixture list has come about from the idea of gathering together many of the players who successfully played together regularly (in fact week in week out on both a Saturday and Sunday) in the early to mid 1990s for something of a reunion.

The upshot is the Willoughby Exiles have been formed and will arrive to do battle (!) with our Sunday friendly XI, as well as renew old acquaintances.

Exiles skipper Tom Neville has been hard at work to gather the collective, with a host of illustrious names and figures already confirmed which many of the club members and players still at Willoughby will remember from playing with.

Already confirmed to play and attend for the Exiles are:

  • Neil Jones
  • Mitesh Chhana
  • Jonny Cumiskey
  • Karl Harland
  • Tom Neville
  • James Rowland
  • Craig Hughes
  • Michael Curtis
  • Robin Corrigan
  • Vinay Chhana
  • Gurj Rupal
  • Matt Cumiskey
  • Duncan Yeadon

To be confirmed (but more than likely to attend)

  • James Needham (all the way from Australia)
  • Mark Perry

The friendly game on 10th June will start at 1.30pm with plans for the bar to be open during the course of the afternoon and a BBQ from early evening.
