Following the successful 'Overnighters' in the last three years with the Under 15s, the club-wide annual Tour makes a tentative reappearance in the shape of a similar format for 2019.
Our destination in early September will be Essex, with a fixture on the Sunday against Matching Green CC. WCC has a connection with Matching Green for this was where the late Richard (Dick) Anderson played before moving north to settle here and play - with some distinction - for Willoughby CC. As a result, after several years of trying to arrange a fixture we look forward to making new acquaintances with the club.
The plan also is for the club party of players, non-players and officials to stay over [hence where the ‘Overnighter’ part comes in], possibly in nearby Harlow. More details to follow on this shortly.
In the first instance, please indicate your interest to come on the tour, whether it is in a playing capacity or purely on a social basis to sample the local hospitality (Matching Green have a fantastic new pavilion which only opened in 2013 which really creates a focal point on the village green. And the club and ground is overlooked by the village pub, so as they say this really is village cricket at its best!)
